The other issue is that on the Mac airport utility main screen the small light on the bottom left is blinking yellow and there is a big red circle to the right with a #1 in it, when I open it up it says" status = Double NAT, I am assuming this is whats causing the blinking yellow lite. There are 2 issues, the first is that I previously read on the support community site that at least 1 device must be in bridge mode ( I only have 2 devices, the express & the modem which is never left in bridge mode per the ISP provider here). On my Mac Airport utility when I change the express network setting from "bridge' mode to 'DHCP and NAT' mode then wireless devices can connect to the guest network. The main network works fine, however in guest mode other wireless devices cannot connect to that password protected network, they look for a IP address but are not getting one. Trying to setup my Airport Express A1392 for guest mode, currently is connected to ISP provided Ruckus MM2211 modem. There are no guarantees here as far as the iOS devices.A Newbie & non-technical person here with a question. If you want to print from an iOS device like an iPad or iPhone, plan to add additonal software like Printopia or Print Central to possibly allow this function. If you have an all-in-one type device, scan, maintenance, and other advanced features will not be operational whent the device is connected to the AirPort Express. Remember that only printing will be supported at the USB port of the Express. Most printers will work, but you really will not know if your printer will work until you try. You do not mention how the printer will connect to the A1264 Express, but I assume that it will be USB from your description. Stage 5 would be adding the printer to the A1264 AirPort Express. You may need to connect the HP using wireless.not Ethernet.to gain full AirPrint functionality, or use another application that will allow printing like Printopia or Print Central using the Ethernet connection on the HP. There is some question about whether an iOS device can print to an Ethernet connected printer.even if the printer is AirPrint compatible. Stage 4 would be adding other Ethernet devices to the Netgear switch and testing each one at a time before adding the next device. Stage 3 would be connecting the A1264 Express and testing to make sure that it is extending the network correctly Stage 2 would be adding the Netgear switch and testing each port with a laptop connected via Ethernet to make sure that everything is operational on the switch Stage 1 would be setting up the A1392 first to the cable modem, and then making sure that everything is working correctly on the A1392 Express You have a fairly complicated set up, so I suggest that it would make sense to tackle things in stages, testing each stage as you go, before proceding to the next stage. I am not sure how to set up this second printer so the network will see it.ĭo you see anything wrong with this approach? Should I set up the A1392 first and then the A1264? It is not an "Air Printer", so I don't know if it will work as one. I will connect a local printer to the A1264 to print locally in the location of the A1264. I will connect my network printer (HP with Air Print capability) to the Netgear Switch so that all network users (I assume) can print.ĩ. I will then connect the Netgear Switch to the A1264 by existing ethernet cable in item 5.Ĩ. I plan to do this by connecting the cable modem to the A1392, then connecting the A1392 to a NetGear FS605 Switch.ħ. I have an ethernet cable in place to link the A1264 to the parent A1392.Ħ. I want to use the A1264 Airport Express to extend my wireless network to other floors in my home.ĥ. I want to remove my old network and establish a new network using the A1392 Airport Express as my principle wireless router and create a new network name.Ĥ. I have a new Motorola cable modem, installed last summer, by my internet provider. It regularly has to be powered off and on and is a nuisance.Ģ.
